Emily Katz is a creative consultant, interior designer, macrame teacher, artist, and Instagram phenomenon. Even though she has called Portland, Oregon home for most of her life, you can find her happiest collaborating on photo shoots in the desert, rearranging furniture in homes around the world, feasting under the stars, discovering hot springs, and singing songs with friends.
She has taught macrame to thousands of people around the globe, from private lessons, to beautifully curated workshops, to team building for creative companies. Her aim is to not only share her love of this simple craft, but also inspire people to be better versions of themselves.

The book, MODERN MACRAMÉ, will come out on Ten Speed Press early next Spring and will feature 32 macramé projects for inspired interiors.

Beginners
Emily Katz of Modern Macramé is coming to Portugal for a fun-filled day of knot-tying! You will be provided everything you need to make and leave with a completed small wall hanging.
Intermediate
Emily Katz of Modern Macramé is coming to Portugal for a fun-filled weekend of knot-tying! This class is aimed for students who already know basic knots but are looking to learn more advanced knots and experiment with color.
We will provide beads, colored rope, and a simple dowel. Students are encouraged to bring their own piece of wood. Driftwood, a dowel, or something unique! Emily will go over a few knotting techniques and then will advise on each person’s special project.
Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
